Spring brings new growth, so it makes sense to explore that
concept in our classrooms!
We are beginning
our study of Growing by discovering exactly
WHAT grows. We talked about why
furniture doesn’t grow, why trucks and jeeps don’t grow, and that ALL the
children are growing! The most relevant to
the children is the new grass in the back.
I’m sure the children have spoken
to you about the “Baby Grass”. Monday we
were given the “OK” to go on the front section of the grass; we jumped up and
down, ran, rolled and danced on the grass!
Oh how lovely it is! We also
discovered that a new hatch of Ladybugs also LOVE the new grass. On Thursday, we were able to observe a
ladybug eating some aphids (Thank you Kelly Fromm!). Pretty cool!
We are even singing songs about Growing!
We will be
participating in an end of the year celebration on Friday evening, May 17th. The children will be singing a song they know
as: Slippery Fish. It is actually called
Octopus and if you would like a download it can be found on iTunes on Charlotte Diamond’s 10 Carrot Diamond
album. We have been singing this
song for quite a while and will be practicing most every day so they will be
comfortable with it. That said, they may
still be VERY hesitant to go up in front of a huge crowd of people. I feel they should NOT be forced to do
so. We will try and make it as fun as
possible for them, giving them a positive experience.
We have so many
things coming up in April and May ~ Please see the Upcoming Events tab for details!
Another activity we will be including with our study on GROWING is the children. I will need a baby picture (one that you don't need back) of your child. Please bring by Mon/Tues April 22/23.
Happy Spring!!
