OH MY ~ It’s February!  This year is really flying by.  I LOVE February with Valentine’s Day; a day to be reminded, once again of how blessed we are to be loved by family and friends.  It is also a great reminder of the amazing love that God has for us; sending His Son Jesus to die to make a way to spend eternity in Heaven!

During the month of February we will be talking a LOT about “Kindness” (and hopefully practicing as well).  We will also learn the color RED and the HEART shape.

Valentine’s Day:  Our class parties will be on Thurs. Feb. 14 & Fri. Feb. 15.  The children will decorate paper bags for easy delivery of valentine cards.  You may put treats with the card if you wish.  It is easier for the children at this age NOT to put children’s names on the cards then they can just drop one in each bag for all their friends.   MWF class has 7 children and 10 on TTH.  There will be a signup sheet for snack/treats for party day by the end of next week.

Ms. Mari would appreciate donations of:

Ø  Valentine Stickers

Ø  Hearts, various sizes and colors (paper or foam)

Ø  Valentine decorations (Classroom)

A lot of our friends are getting the idea of using the toilet at school (YEAH)!  Children earn a sticker on the chart and then when they have earned 5 stickers, they may choose something from the treasure box.  There were a few that needed still a little more coaxing, so I am giving one M&M if they go potty in the toilet.  Another thing that can help those wanting to be more independent would be to dress them in LOOSE FITTING pants (sweats, leggings, etc.) so they can “Do it themselves”.  If any of you didn't get a copy of the article on Potty Training here is the link:  http://en.allexperts.com/q/Pediatrics-1429/4-potty-trained.htm

I am also seeing the result of lots of Playdough play, in that quite a few children are advancing in their writing skills.  It is so exciting to see their growth and development through the year!  I am looking forward to seeing more growth in the coming months!

I would like to say a warm “WELCOME” to a new student on MWF – Ella Calles.  It is a joy to meet a new friend!  I would also like to say “CONGRATULATIONS” to Owen (and Kevin and Holly too) in the MWF class on becoming a new “BIG BROTHER” to his adorable new sister!
